St. Mary’s Banana Chips was established in 1999 and the manufacturer is Jamaica Producers Foods (JP Foods) in St. Mary. Before 1999, JP Foods were banana exporters.
Before September 2005 the Jamaican banana chips were distributed in the United Kingdom and the United States. However, since then they are only distributed in Jamaica. St. Mary’s Banana Chips have been on the market since 1999. But three hurricanes later, the raw material of Jamaican bananas is scarce, so JP Foods made the decision to diversify with products such as Jamaican plantain, Jamaican breadfruit, and Jamaican cassava chips.

Are banana chips healthy?
While they may seem healthy at first glance, banana chips can be loaded with calories, saturated fat, and added sugar. For a healthier alternative, look for dehydrated, non-fried banana chips made without added sugar. Better yet, choose a whole banana. If you decide to eat banana chips, be mindful of your portion size.
JP St Mary’s on Wednesday launched their pack refresh line of the popular St Mary’s tropical snacks at the Pavilion, Hope Gardens in St Andrew.

This diverse lineage includes banana chips, plantain chips, breadfruit chips, and cassava chips, in a vast plethora of flavors and sizes.
Surrounded by JP St. Mary’s supporters and foodies, the new packaging for all of JP St. Mary’s snacks was revealed, along with opportunities to sample the same great tastes we all know and enjoy, by itself or incorporated in an exciting dish.
“The changing of our packaging signifies JP St. Mary’s commitment to continuously evolve, and innovate to remain relevant in the marketplace. This package refresh will also allow us to trade our products even more aggressively locally and globally because not only do our products have the same great flavor but aesthetically, we are even more visually appealing,” said Tara Goulbourne, Commercial Manager, JP St. Mary’s.
The event also featured the release of the JP St. Mary’s new jingle, performed by the official JP St. Mary’s Brand Ambassador and Jamaican Dancehall Artist, Mink Jo.
“I’ve loved JP St. Mary’s banana chips since I was a child. So I am very honored to be representing their brand. A healthy lifestyle is very important to me and the fact that JP St. Mary’s is gluten-free with no preservatives makes them the perfect choice,” said Mink Jo.
